Welcome to Talk Train - The English Communication Improvement Program

English Improvement Courses Designed to Fit Your Schedule

What sets TalkTrain apart from other English improvement courses? Is it just the focus on idioms and colloquialisms that makes TalkTrain different?

Absolutely not. There are a number of reasons why TalkTrain is different. And they’re all right reasons.

What makes TalkTrain so effective is that we cater our courses to the needs and desires of the student. Whereas in typical English improvement courses there is a rigid structure that the student must follow, and strict coursework that requires completing, TalkTrain understands that for a student to truly flourish, he or she must be taught in a way that makes sense to them.
  • 750 idioms and phrases, chosen by former English students as the most common and useful for English improvement course students

  • Work a half an hour a day, at a leisurely pace, if that’s how you absorb information best

  • Work three hours a day to finish the course quickly

  • It’s your choice!

TalkTrain isn’t put together by a team of English professors. It isn’t your typical language program. TalkTrain English improvement courses were designed in part by the recommendations of former English students, people who knew the grammar and the rules but didn’t understand some of the common phrases being used by native speakers. With their input, we’ve designed our course around some of the most common and most widely-used idioms and colloquialisms used in American English. Some of the phrases are less confusing than others, but all of them are confusing to people who only know the dictionary definitions of the words. Some examples of idioms you might learn in the TalkTrain English improvement courses:

  • “A dime a dozen” – something that is common and easy to get.

  • “Chip on your shoulder” – being upset for something that happened in the past.

  • “It’s a toss up” – a result is still unclear and could go either way.

  • “At the drop of a hat” – willing to do something immediately and without notice.

If you’ve ever heard those phrases, or any other phrase that made you stop and wonder, TalkTrain is a good choice. You’ll be able to work at your own pace while learning valuable American idioms that are essential to speaking English naturally.
